MANILA — AJ Fransman delivered when it mattered the most for Adamson University on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-3, Bohol-born, Laguna-raised forward scored eight of his total 14 points — his career-best so far — in the pivotal fourth quarter of the Soaring Falcons’ 45-37 victory over the University of the East, with Fransman draining two three-pointers as well as a deuce in that span.

This came after he was scoreless in the first half with a 0-of-6 shooting, but the transferee from Enderun Colleges said that he just banked on the trust of his teammates and his coaches.

"Yung first half performance ko, na-realize ko and sinabi rin ng teammates and coaches ko na medyo nira-rush ko yung mga tira ko," he told a few reporters after the game. "Nung second half, nag adjust lang ako sa mga pangyayari."

"Sabi ng coaches ko keep shooting lang, so yung mga importante na kailangan kong ma-score, thankful ako na pumasok yung mga shots ko na yun," he added.

This is the same mindset that the 23-year-old has been applying in his career so far.

Previously playing for Mapua High School, Enderun, and in various "ligang labas" games in Laguna, Fransman has turned himself into one of the vital cogs of Adamson — a result of his perseverance throughout those teams and leagues.

"I always bet on myself talaga since nung nasa province pa ako," said the former Red Robin. "I believed na maaabot ko yung mga gusto kong maabot, and maa-achieve ko yung gusto kong ma-achieve. Talagang nag work lang ako, nag try lang ako, and always working lang ako."

"Kaya yung mga big moments na ganito, dahil lang talaga siya kay Lord," he added.

But aside from the goals that he has for himself, what AJ wants is to set an example for his brother Aurelio who is also carving a name for himself with the Baby Falcons in the Junior High division.

"Yung kapatid ko na si Aurelio, idol ako niyan sa lahat ng mga bagay," bared AJ of his 15-year-old, 5-foot-10 brother.

"Parang the same kami, at alam kong nilu-look up niya ako so gina-guide ko siya. Alam ko na kailangan kong mag lead by example," he added.

To further do this, AJ assured that he will do his part by continuing to improve himself, especially as one of the key cogs of the Soaring Falcons in the senior's division.

"Tutuloy ko lang yung mga ginagawa kong positives, then yung mga mistakes, mag a-adjust lang ako and ico-correct ko lang yung mga yon," said the older Fransman.
