<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/02172024 DLSU Lady Spikers.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">The DLSU Lady Spikers. <strong id="isPasted"><em>Photo from UAAP Media.</em></strong><br/></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA <strong>(UPDATED)</strong> — De La Salle University opened their title-retention campaign in UAAP Season 86 with a statement victory.</p><p>The Lady Spikers made quick work of Adamson University, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18, on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.</p><p>Reigning Most Valuable Player Angel Canino starred for La Salle with 14 points which came from 11 attacks and three blocks, while also ending up with four digs, and four receptions. </p><p>This win also marked long-time DLSU head coach Ramil de Jesus’ 300th win in the UAAP.</p><p>&quot;Amazing,&quot; said Canino on de Jesus’ personal accomplishment. &quot;Sobrang natutuwa po ako kasi part po kami noon. Hopefully, more wins to come.&quot;</p><p>Right from the opening set, DLSU set the tone and dominated their San Marcelino-based counterparts on both ends of the floor, and this was evident as La Salle dominated Adamson 43-30 in attacks while also tallying 10 blocks.</p><p>Also playing a factor was the Lady Spikers’ balanced charge, with Shevana Laput getting 11 markers to go along with 10 excellent receptions, Thea Gagate and Amie Provido adding eight points each, and Alleiah Malaluan finishing with seven points.</p><p>Julia Coronel finished with 13 excellent sets while also getting five points, and Lyka De Leon registered 12 excellent digs and eight excellent receptions.</p><p>On the other hand, no one from Adamson finished in double-digits as Lucille Almonte and Rochelle Lalongisip only scored six markers each in the loss.</p><p>The Taft spikers will look to continue their dominance against Far Eastern University on Wednesday, February 21, 2 PM at the Araneta Coliseum, while Adamson will be going up against University of the Philippines on Saturday, February 24, 2 PM at the MOA Arena.</p><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><ivs-player data-ivs-key="e8c22c015ca9eafa76f1e3edfa03c603" data-ivs-spid="3001339" data-ivs-vid="2963449"></ivs-player></div><script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/loader.js"></script>
