MANILA – San Miguel stalwart June Mar Fajardo is on pace to win his eighth PBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

The league announced Tuesday that Fajardo is leading the MVP race with a 40.9 statistical points (SPs) average built on 16.2 points, league-best 12.0 rebounds, season-high 2.3 blocks while adding 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals halfway through the 48th season and after winning the Commissioner's Cup crown.

Blocking his way to the plum is fellow big man Ginebra's Christian Standhardinger with 35.7 SPs on 16.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 5.0 assists, while teammate and Best Player of the Conference recipient CJ Perez had 35.4 SPs on 16.9 markers, 6.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.3 steals.

NorthPort's Arvin Tolentino is also in the discussion after averaging 22.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per outing and tallied 35.1 SPs.

TNT's Calvin Oftana, who had 21.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, is in fifth place with 34.1 SPs.

Fajardo was ineligible to participate in the BPC race in the recently concluded conference after not playing 70 percent of SMB's games before the end of the semifinals.

However, the SMB star is now qualified for the season-ending award after playing six games in the championship series against Magnolia.

The ten-time PBA champion, also a mainstay for Gilas Pilipinas, will not be joining the national team for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers later this week due to a calf injury he sustained from the recent Finals bout.
