Photo from UAAP Media. </div>MANILA — Far Eastern University escaped the University of the East to spoil rookie star Casiey Dongallo’s historic game.The Lady Tamaraws defeated the Lady Warriors, 22-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-27, 15-11, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.Gerzel Petallo finished with 18 points that were built on 14 attacks, three blocks, and an ace.After splitting the first two sets, the Morayta-based squad banked on a strong showing in the third by outscoring UE in attacks, 17-11, as they took advantage of the Lady Warriors’ shoddy floor defense in that frame.The Lady Tamaraws mirrored these efforts in the fourth, and this allowed FEU to turn a 14-12 deficit into a 19-17 advantage after an off-the-block kill by Petallo.Dongallo, however, refused to give in just yet.Down 23-21, the UE super rookie scored five straight points, all of which came from attacks, to force a decider which is just the second one this season.But the Lady Tamaraws started the fifth in a strong manner, 6-1, with Asis scoring three early points in that frame, and that proved to be enough as FEU moved up to 2-1 in the standings.Meanwhile, Dongallo’s 30 points -- a new career-high -- went for naught as they fell to 1-2The Lady Tamaraws next game will be versus University of Sto. Tomas, and it will be on Sunday, March 3, at 4 PM.
