Photo from UAAP Media.</div>MANILA (UPDATED) — De La Salle University recovered from a slow start en route to their fifth straight win, and improved to 7-1 in UAAP Season 86.The Lady Spikers defeated Far Eastern University, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18, during their women’s volleyball tournament second-round matchup on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.Julia Coronel anchored the Taft hitters’ charge with 16 excellent sets and two points, while reigning Most Valuable Player Angel Canino finished with 15 markers and 10 receptions.“Going to the second round, yun nga lagi naming sinasabi sa mga bata na hindi pwedeng pakampante kasi lahat ng team naka-adjust na, so talagang magiging mahirap,” said DLSU deputy mentor Noel Orcullo following the game “Like yung FEU, mataas yung kumpiyansa going to the second round kasi galing sila sa panalo. Sinasabi lang namin sa kanila na kung ano yung trinaining namin, inaral namin against FEU, kailangan mai-apply. Kahit papano, nagawa naman nila kung ano yung dapat gawin,” he added.La Salle’s advantage in attacks (42-32) was the leading factor that allowed the Lady Spikers to fend off the Lady Tamaraws, especially since it was a close contest throughout the game.Tied at 7 in the closing set, DLSU charged an eight-to-nothing run to create a much-needed separation which was ended by a Canino ace, and that was enough for La Salle to tally its seventh win in eight games.However, Coronel was still dissatisfied with their performance.“I would say na hindi pa po ako satisfied,” said the team captain after their win.“But this is a good start for me and the team coming to the second round pero ayaw ko pong huminto sa naging performance ko today,” she added.Meanwhile, leading the 4-4 FEU squad was Gerz Petallo and Faida Bakanke who had 13 points each. La Salle’s next bout will be against the University of the Philippines, while the Lady Tams will hope to bounce back when they face Ateneo de Manila University.Both games will be on April 4 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.<div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>
