<div style="margin-bottom:0px;line-height:normal;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);min-height:13.8px"><span></span><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1715755371487IMG_3881.jpeg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">La Salle’s Angel Canino. <em>Photo from UAAP Media.</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — De La Salle Lady Spikers star Angel Canino is set to make her Philippine women’s national volleyball team seniors debut.</p><p>The Bacolod native, who was listed into the freshly named Alas Pilipinas squad for the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup later this month, will be linking up with some of the country’s best collegiate and amateur players. </p><p>But first, the UAAP Season 85 women’s MVP said that she is still yet to fully recover from her previous injury.</p><p>&quot;So far, I&#x27;m still trying to be at my 100%,&quot; she told a few reporters after La Salle received their awards for their bronze-medal finish in the UAAP Season 86 women&#x27;s volleyball tournament.</p><p>Canino suffered a right arm injury during the eliminations which resulted in her missing a chunk of the second round, but what she assured is that she is putting in the effort to get fully healthy in time.</p><div style="margin-bottom:0px;line-height:normal;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);min-height:13.8px"><span></span><span></span></div><div style="margin-bottom:0px;line-height:normal;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);min-height:13.8px"><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:950px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1715755662187IMG_2338.jpeg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">La Salle’s Angel Canino. <em id="isPasted">Photo from UAAP Media.</em></span></span></span></div><p style="margin-bottom:0px;line-height:normal;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);min-height:13.8px">&quot;Hindi ko pa ma-make sure na 100% ako, but gusto kong i-make sure sa lahat na I&#x27;m still trying to over and go back sa katawan ko dati,&quot; Canino continued.</p><p>Still, the former Under-19 and Under-23 National athlete said that she is raring to not only represent the country but also fulfill her and her father Rodel&#x27;s dream.</p><p>&quot;Yes, kasi yung father ko nga national Team na talaga siya, so gusto niya talaga na at my early age, ma-experience ko yung National team,&quot; the younger Canino said of her father who previously played for the men&#x27;s team during his college years.</p><p>&quot;Yun lagi sinasabi sa akin ni papa, na national team is not just to join, you have the responsibility. Actually nung bata pa lang ako, tina-try talaga ng papa ko na mag join ako sa national team. Ngayon, thankful talaga ako, and hopefully, tuloy-tuloy na nasa national team ako.&quot;</p><p>But it is not only a matter of turning their dreams into reality for Canino, as she also expressed living up to the expectations and responsibilities of representing the country at the international level.</p><p>&quot;It&#x27;s a very different experience hindi katulad ng pag naglalaro ka sa isang school. Kapag National Team kasi, there&#x27;s that pride of you being a Filipina, and then, there&#x27;s that pride of you bringing all the Filipinos,&quot; Canino said.</p><p>&quot;Heavy duty siya, pero you&#x27;re happy because dala-dala mo sa likod mo yung mga tao.&quot;</p><div><ivs-player data-ivs-key="e8c22c015ca9eafa76f1e3edfa03c603" data-ivs-spid="3001339" data-ivs-vid="3037274"></ivs-player></div><script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/loader.js"></script><p>Canino also shared the biggest lessons from La Salle head coach Ramil De Jesus that she is to bring to Alas Pilipinas.</p><p>&quot;Discipline is everywhere, and yung respect is everywhere, so you have to bring that,&quot; bared Canino.</p><p>&quot;You&#x27;re not only bringing your own, you&#x27;re bringing the school, and also the Philippine flag.
