Photo from PVL Images.MANILA — Julia Coronel has the chance to learn from one of the country’s best players in her position — Jia Morado-De Guzman." src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1716202482095IMG_3946.jpeg" class="fr-fil fr-dib"/><figcaption>Alas Pilipinas’ Julia Coronel.<em> Photo from PVL Images</em></figcaption></figure></div><p><br/>MANILA — Julia Coronel has the chance to learn from one of the country’s best players in her position — Jia Morado-De Guzman.</p><p>The two playmakers are set to be teammates in Alas Pilipinas for the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup which starts on Wednesday, and the De La Salle Lady Spikers’ playmaker is raring to learn from De Guzman. </p><p>“It means a lot to me, considering nga na I’m playing with a lot of experienced players, like what I’ve always been saying, si Ate Jia,” she told ABS-CBN News. </p><p>“I’m really looking forward to learning a lot from her,” Coronel added, while pointing out the specifics of what she wants to grasp more from the veteran setter.</p><p>“More on techniques and proper decision-making. especially sa iba’t ibang situations. That’s what I’m very eager to learn more talaga from her talaga,” said Coronel.</p><p>Meanwhile, the former Ateneo Lady Eagles star has nothing but praise for her fellow setter.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img alt="Alas Pilipinas’ Jia Morado-De Guzman. Kung may kailangan kaming ipagawa for her, nagagawa niya naman kaagad,” she told a couple of reporters in a separate interview.</p><p>“It’s just that we’re trying to follow one system under coach Jorge [De Brito], so whatever she learned from La Salle, whatever I learned from Japan, pinagsasama namin. Hopefully, mag-translate,” she continued. </p><p>Aside from hailing Coronel and what she brings to the table, De Guzman also shared how Coronel has been helping her bridge the gap between Alas’ veterans and young guns.</p><p>“The job of a setter is not to connect lang with the spikers eh. I also have to connect well with the others,” said De Guzman.</p><p>“She’s also been doing a good job in the UAAP, and I can’t just navigate the offense by myself, so I also have Julia by my side. She and I have been communicating well naman, especially with learning what the sets of the spikers are.”</p><p>“She’s familiar with the younger spikers’ sets, I’m more familiar with the seniors, so in that way, mas madali naming naa-adjust &#x27;yung kung ano man &#x27;yung kailangan ng team,” De Guzman ended.</p><p>De Guzman, Coronel, and the rest of Alas will have until Thursday, May 23, to continue with their preparations as they are set to face Australia on that day at 7 p.m. at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.</p><div><ivs-player data-ivs-key="e8c22c015ca9eafa76f1e3edfa03c603" data-ivs-spid="3001339" data-ivs-vid="3040771"></ivs-player></div><script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/loader.js"></script>
