Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Creamline&#x27;s Jema Galanza goes for an attack against Choco Mucho in Game 1 of the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference Finals, May 9, 2024 at the Araneta Coliseum. <em>Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATED</strong>) -- The Creamline Cool Smashers are on the cusp of another Premier Volleyball League (PVL) championship after a sensational four-set triumph over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans on Thursday.</p><p>In front of over 17,000 fans at the Araneta Coliseum, the Cool Smashers recovered from a letdown in the opening set and displayed veteran poise in the ensuing frames en route to a 24-26, 25-20, 25-21, 25-16 triumph in Game 1 of the 2024 All-Filipino Finals.</p><p>Jema Galanza starred for Creamline with 20 points on 18 kills and two blocks on top of 13 receptions, while Tots Carlos added 17 points and Bea de Leon had 11 points, including five of the Cool Smashers&#x27; 11 blocks. As a team, they had a 64-51 advantage in kills against the Flying Titans. </p><p>Another win on Sunday&#x27;s Game 2 will give Creamline its eighth championship in the league, and second straight after ruling the Second All-Filipino Conference in the 2023 season of the PVL. Pero sabi nga ni coach, hindi ito &#x27;yung time para mag-celebrate kasi isa pa lang ang napapanalo namin.&quot;</p><p>The Cool Smashers were poised for a win in the opening set after surging ahead, 23-20, off a Carlos attack. But their errors, along with big hits from Choco Mucho&#x27;s Sisi Rondina, kept the Flying Titans alive. In Set 2, the Flying Titans had a 10-3 lead only for Creamline to win 16 of the next 19 points for a 19-13 advantage. A down-the-line attack from Alyssa Valdez made it 23-16, before Choco Mucho made a late run to get within three, 23-20. </p><p>The deficit was too much, however: Isa Molde committed an attack error, and Galanza powered past the Choco Mucho net defense to equalize the match. </p><p>In the third frame, the Flying Titans pulled away for a 12-5 lead, only for Creamline to work their way back anew. Playing a big role in their run were their bench players, with de Leon, Michele Gumabao, and reserve setter Mafe Galanza keying their comeback. An ace by de Leon gave Creamline the lead for good, 21-20, and three consecutive kills by the elder Galanza gave the Cool Smashers a one-set lead.</p><p>It was an advantage that they would not relinquish. After trailing 10-13 in the fourth frame, Creamline gained its rhythm this time with Bernadeth Pons giving them the lift. Gumabao and Galanza took turns in firing past the Choco Mucho defense before a net touch by Rondina gave Creamline the match winner. </p><p>&quot;&#x27;Di pa tapos &#x27;yung laban,&quot; Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses warned. &quot;Kailangan maka-dalawa ka. Importante na nakuha namin &#x27;yung Game 1, then tatrabahuhin namin &#x27;yung Game 2.&quot;</p><p>Rondina finished with 27 points in the loss, while Royse Tubino scored 15.
