<p>PASAY — Two-time world champion Carlos Yulo says he’s coming into the 2024 Paris Olympics with a new mindset.</p><p>The Filipino gymnast made his Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo summer games where his best finish was fourth in vault.</p><p>He shared some of the lessons he learned from his maiden appearance that he will bring to Paris.</p><p>“Yung maging confident po. Before po ang liit gumalaw. Ieembrace ko po ngayon kung ano ginawa ko sa training, mga pinaghirapan ko. Ishow ko confident ako sa pinractice ko,” he said.</p><p>(I [learned] to be more confident. Before I would move so small. Now I need to embrace what I did in training, everything I worked hard for. Hindi ko na-enjoy yung last Olympics ko. Super overwhelmed po sa lahat ng pangyayari. Pero ngayon po super grateful po ako na naranasan ko yung sa Tokyo and meron po akong baon ngayon,” he added.</p><p>(I also [learned] to enjoy. I didn’t enjoy my last Olympics. I was super overwhelmed with everything that was happening. But now I’m super grateful I experienced what in Tokyo and I have a lot of lessons to bring [in Paris])</p><p>Yulo and his team left for the French city of Metz early Saturday morning.</p><p>He’s focused on improving his performance, while staying injury-free with less than a month to go before the Paris Olympics.</p><p>“Penetrate po talaga sa practice and makapag-produce po ng magandang execution. Saka maging healthy po talaga throughout the training camp. Siyempre po ayun yung number one priority ko po yung health ko. And no injuries po yung pinagpapray ko po talaga,” he said.</p><p>(We will penetrate during practice so I can produce great execution. I need to be healthy throughout the training camp. Of course, that’s my number one priority, my health. No injuries also. I pray that I won’t get any injuries.)</p><p>Yulo shared his target for the summer games and what we can expect from him.</p><p>“Bibigay ko po lahat ng kaya kong gawin and yung best ko. Bonus nalang po kung maka gold medal ako. Pero siyempre gusto ko talagang maka pag produce ng ganung resulta. Siyempre kasama po yun sa dream ko po as an athlete as a person. Ibibigay ko po lahat. Kung anong makukuha ko and yung laban ko, para po yun sa lahat ng taong sumusuporta sa akin,” he said.</p><p>(I will give my all and my best. It will be a bonus if I win a gold medal. But that’s what I want [to achieve] to produce that result. Of course, that’s part of my dream as an athlete and as a person. I will give my all. And whatever I get during my performance, that’s dedicated to all those who support me.)</p><p>Yulo is among the 20 athletes representing the country at the Paris Olympics that will open on July 26.</p>
