MANILA – Jonnel Policarpio earned the Most Valuable Player honors at the conclusion of the PBA Draft Combine on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Policarpio's Team B1 cruised to victory after a 61-44 win over Team A3 in the finals of the mini-tournament which aimed to turn heads and improve the aspirants' stock in the Rookie Draft.

He said that winning the top plum is a blessing but it was still a total team effort.

"Sobrang blessing [nito] and grateful ako na nakuha ko 'yung MVP. Bonus lang ‘to. Nagtulong-tulong kami ng mga teammates ko," said the De La Salle University product.

"Para sa akin, malaking experience 'to kasi nakasabay ko 'yung mga rookie draftees," the former UAAP champion said. "For me [dahil] 'yung nilaro ko simula Day 1 kahapon, 'yung confidence ko 100% kaya maganda 'yung pinakita ko."

Those who were named Mythical Five members in the mini-tournament were Policarpio, Brandon Ramirez, Justine Baltazar, Jordan Bartlett, and Kurt Reyson.

The Mythical Five won P5,000 each, while the MVP secured P10,000 for himself.

Draft proper is on Sunday, July 14, at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City.
