MANILA – PLDT outside hitter Savi Davison will not be playing for the High Speed Hitters "until further notice."

Coach Rald Ricafort announced the development as posted by the team on its social media, while Davison, in an interview with reporters, confirmed this during the opening day of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

"She won't be seeing action until further notice," Ricafort said.

Davison said she's nursing a minor injury she acquired years ago from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.

"Just a minor injury, just cleaned up. General wear and tear basically. I got my ACL done back in 2017, haven't had any issues since. I just want to go and clean it up. I have a bit of loose cartilage, so everything's okay. Nothing major," Davison said.

Davison said that she aims a return in October, and hopefully by then, she's finally a hundred percent.

"I'll only be out maybe 3-4 weeks, so they're just letting me have this conference to just, you know, take my time and come back in October a hundred percent."

The 5-foot-10 wing spiker added her injury is on her left knee.

"Left knee, yeah. I tore my ACL back in, I want to say end of 2016, so I got it done in 2017. It's been 8 years, it's held up pretty well, thank the Lord. But, you know, general wear and tear issues, you know, after reconstruction like that. It's a major surgery, so I'm just maintaining it for right now."

Still, the star spiker expressed confidence in PLDT's campaign in the import-laden tilt as Lena Samoilenko leads the squad in Pool A.

"I'm actually really confident in them. With Lena coming back, Mika, Jovy, I feel like they have a really solid team. And I'm really glad that, you know, I'm not kind of leaving them high and dry," she said.

"A lot of people are coming back. That's something that I mentioned towards the end of last season. And I can see it in practice now. So, I'm really excited," Davison concluded.
