Photo from Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News."/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">PBA Four-point pioneer Chris Banchero. <em>Photo from Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News.</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Chris Banchero has etched his name in the PBA record books.</p><p>The Meralco Bolts star became the first player in the league to convert a four-point shot as they officially implemented the ruling in its Season 49 opening game between Meralco and the Magnolia Hotshots on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.</p><p>Banchero hit the shot at the 10:26 mark of the second quarter to overtake the Hotshots, 20-17, after trailing by four prior to that shot. </p><p>In the first period, his teammate Chris Newsome was the first to attempt the four-pointer.</p><div style="margin-bottom:0px;line-height:normal;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"><span><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1723985118815IMG_4724.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Meralco’s Jolo Mendoza becoming the second-ever player to hit an official four-point shot in the PBA. </span></span></span></span><span>Minutes later, another Bolts guard in Jolo Mendoza became the second-ever to sink the four-pointer.
