Handout/Philippine Paralympic Committee"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Veteran para swimmer Ernie Gawilan and para archer Agustina Bantiloc will be the Philippines&#x27; flag-bearers for the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games in Paris, France on Wednesday. <em>Handout/Philippine Paralympic Committee</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- Veteran para swimmer Ernie Gawilan and para archer Agustina Bantiloc will carry the Philippine flag in the opening ceremonies of the 17th Paralympic Games on Wednesday in Paris, France.</p><p>They will be joined by para track and field athletes Jerrold Mangliwan and Cendy Asusano, para swimmer Angel Mae Otom and para taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin during the parade that takes place from the Champs-Elysées to the Place de la Concorde.</p><p>&quot;We had several discussions about who will be the standard-bearers at the opening ceremony with the coaches and it was decided among us that Ernie and Tina were the athletes to do it,&quot; said Ral Rosario, the Philippines&#x27; chef-de-mission to the Paralympics.</p><p>&quot;Gawilan has been a bemedalled national para swimmer and role model for our para athletes over the years while Bantiloc is the country’s first para archer to qualify and represent the country at the Paralympic Games,&quot; he added.</p><p>&quot;The priority, of course, for the parade were our athletes so they can experience this memorable moment in their lives,&quot; Rosario also said.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/8/24/psc-chief-urges-support-as-paralympians-brace-for-action-1836">READ: PSC chief urges support as Paralympians brace for action</a></div><p>Bantiloc, 56, is grateful for the honor as she joins Gawilan in serving as flag-bearers for the opening rites.</p><p>&quot;Siyempre proud and happy, of course.
