With an astonishing freedive of 125 meters (410 feet) into the depths of the Mediterranean Sea, Alexey Molchanov set a new world record on at the AIDA Freediving World Championships in Ajaccio, Corsica.

Diving in the Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWTB) category, the Russian freediver broke his own world record which he had set in 2023 by one meter.

Awards were also announced for the Overall Category on Sunday. The winners of the prestigious prize must prove their fortitude in all four freediving disciplines: Free Immersion(FIM), Constant Weight (CWT), Constant Weight Without Fins (CNF), and Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWTB).

Marianna Gillespie was the overall winner in the women’s competition for the third year in a row.

The Russian was on the podium for three of the four categories in Corsica, FIM, CNF, and CWTB.

In the men’s category, it was Croatia’s Petar Klovar who took the overall win after he won gold in the FIM discipline with a 127 meter (416.7) dive and bronze in the CWTB. - Report from Reuters
