Photo from UAAP Media."/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">The UP Fighting Maroons’ Quentin Millora-Brown. <em>Photo from UAAP Media </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The University of the Philippines fended off Far Eastern University&#x27;s late game surge to remain spotless in UAAP Season 87.</p><p>The Fighting Maroons dumped the Tamaraws, 69-58, during their men&#x27;s basketball clash on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, and this allowed the Diliman-based team to post their fourth straight win in as many games.</p><p>Francis Lopez top-scored for State U with 13 points and four rebounds, while following him is newcomer big man Quentin Millora-Brown was UP&#x27;s pillar as he finished with an 11-point, 13-rebound game.</p><p>Also steady was JD Cagulangan as the veteran ace scattered seven points, five assists, and a rebound in 21 minutes of gameplay.</p><p>After a close fight in the opening quarter, UP left the Tamaraws in the second quarter in the dust with a 20-7 scoring outburst, with QMB, Francis Lopez, and Cagulangan doing damage for their squad for a 39-22 halftime lead.</p><p>The Maroons&#x27; lead even grew to 25, 69-44, later in the game, but this was when FEU made its late attempt to win the game by scoring 14 straight points to cut the lead to 11. However, the Morayta-based squad&#x27;s run proved to be too late as they eventually fell to 0-4 in the standings.</p><p>UP deputy Christian Luanzon touched on the slow finish of the Fighting Maroons to the game, and he said that it is something that will be addressed as the season progresses. </p><p>&quot;The last 15 minutes, medyo nag-relax kami and I guess the quarter scoring says it all,&quot; he said after the game. You know, our offense only produced 14 points, and then we allowed them to score 21 which was their highest in the game in the fourth quarter.
