Photo from UAAP Images."/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Ateneo’s Sean Quitevis. <em>Photo from UAAP Images.</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Ateneo de Manila University is coming in UAAP Season 87 with an almost completely different roster.</p><p>Following the Final Four appearance by the Tab Baldwin-coached squad last year, they will now be without the services of the likes of Kai Ballungay, Mason Amos, Jared Brown, Joe Obasa, Geo Chiu, Gab Gomez, and JM Credo.</p><p>Expected to hold the fort for the Blue Eagles in the present season, on the other hand, is veteran guard Sean Quitevis, and he said that they are banking on the growth that they can earn as the season progresses. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/7/1/uaap-mason-amos-bids-ateneo-goodbye-1901">READ: Mason Amos bids Ateneo goodbye</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/7/5/mason-amos-sorry-for-unacceptable-actions-in-la-salle-transfer-1314">READ: Mason Amos sorry for &#x27;unacceptable actions&#x27; in La Salle transfer</a></div><p>&quot;Honestly, I&#x27;m just expecting us to grow through each game,&quot; he told ABS-CBN News on Wednesday in the league&#x27;s press conference at the Novotel in Quezon City.</p><p>&quot;Right now, we&#x27;re not looking too far. We&#x27;re just looking at every single day, getting better every practice, dealing with the challenges that each game presents, and growing through that,&quot; Sean continued.</p><p>Aside from this, Quitevis is also putting his faith in his personal improvement on the offensive end which he put a lot of focus on during the offseason.  </p><p>&quot;It&#x27;s a challenge to grow into, but it&#x27;s an opportunity for me to expand my game. I have no worries because I&#x27;ve put in the work, and other guys are willing to step up right now to any roles,&quot; he said. </p><p>&quot;I spent my summer a lot on my shooting form. It&#x27;s been a challenging process because there is a certain growth when you change your form, so I hope I&#x27;m ready.&quot;</p><p>Also giving him hope is having prized recruit Jared Bahay on board for the Loyola-based team.</p><p>&quot;Aside from his talent, it&#x27;s so great to have Cebuano on board,&quot; Quitevis said. &quot;I feel like me and him communicating in Bisaya feels like home. It&#x27;s really exciting, and when I&#x27;m on the court with him, I&#x27;m just in awe of his talent,&quot; he continued.</p><p>These are the factors why despite all roads seeming to head into an abysmal season for the Blue Eagles — as Kobe Demisana also previously transferred to Adamson University while Lebron Nieto is dealing with a leg injury — Quitevis is remaining optimistic that they still have the tools to not only return to the semifinals but also win a UAAP men&#x27;s hoops championship yet again.</p><p>&quot;The goal is a championship, regardless of what the odds are. If I ever played by the odds in my entire life, I wouldn&#x27;t be where I am today.
