Photo from UAAP Media."/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>La Salle-bound Mason Amos. </em><em>Photo from UAAP Media. </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA (<strong>UPDATED</strong>) -- The UAAP will officially implement new rules regarding the eligibility of players who transfer from one member-school to another.</p><p>Previously, the UAAP only deducted one year -- the residency year -- from a player&#x27;s eligibility when they transfer schools. But starting the upcoming season, two years will now be removed from a player&#x27;s eligibility if they transfer to another UAAP school.</p><p>&quot;From the initial rule of residency where there will be counted a playing year, now it will be charged as two,&quot; said league Executive Director Atty. Rene Saguisag during the UAAP Season 87 press conference at the Novotel in Quezon City on Wednesday morning.</p><p>A player will still only serve one year of residency. The new rule only impacts the amount of playing years that they can have for their new school.</p><p>The new rule will be effective starting the 2024-25 school year and will be applicable across all collegiate sports.</p><p>This revised rule does not affect the high school division or incoming college freshmen.</p><p>Saguisag also emphasized that the rule will be internal. Those transferring from non-member schools to the UAAP will be using the previous policy where a player will only get a season of deduction in their playing eligibility, that being their residency year.  </p><p>&quot;This is internal, from a UAAP member school transferring to a UAAP member school,&quot; he said.</p><p>Among the notable movements in the past year are Ateneo de Manila University&#x27;s Mason Amos, National University&#x27;s Kean Baclaan, and University of the Philippines&#x27; Luis Pablo moving to De La Salle University.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/2/12/uaap-luis-pablo-leaves-up-for-la-salle-1501">READ: Luis Pablo leaves UP for La Salle</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/2/3/uaap-kean-baclaan-is-headed-to-la-salle-2002">READ: Kean Baclaan is headed to La Salle</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/12/04/23/mason-amos-looks-back-on-decent-rookie-season-with-ateneo">READ: Mason Amos bids Ateneo goodbye</a></div><p>With regards to these newest aces of the Green Archers, the timing of when they enrolled at DLSU will be the decider if they will already undergo the new ruling or not.</p><p>Baclaan and Pablo, together with UP-bound Rey Remogat, will be following the old eligibility rules. </p><p>Meanwhile, Amos, Adamson University&#x27;s Renzo Competente and Kobe Demisana, and Far Eastern University&#x27;s Mur Alao will now be following the new policies. </p><p>&quot;Let&#x27;s just say na any transfer after the academic year 2023-24, so Season 86, after that one ang affected. Any transfers made prior to that, hindi pa siya maaapektuhan,&quot; said Saguisag.</p><p>The rule also applies to a player of any sport, regardless if they are in Team A or Team B.</p><p>&quot;I&#x27;m not privy with regard to the structure of each of the member schools and the arrangement of their teams, ang importante sa amin ay enrollment,&quot; Atty.
