Photo from PBA Images.MANILA — The NorthPort Batang Pier will enter the PBA Season 49 Commissioner&#x27;s Cup playoffs on a high note.</div>The Bonnie Tan-coached squad is poised to clinch a twice-to-beat advantage come playoff time after it thrashed the Blackwater Bossing through a 120-93 beatdown during their Saturday evening faceoff at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, Rizal.”Sinasabi sa amin ni Coach Bonnie, saluhin namin lagi ng dalawang kamay yung mga panalong binibigay sa amin,” said NorthPort deputy Rensy Bajar after the victory. “Hopefully, maka-end up kami with the No.1 or 2 spot after the eliminations.”Kadeem Jack was solid for the Batang Pier, putting up 30 points with six rebounds and two steals, while Joshua Munzon added 21 markers, five assists, a rebound, and a steal.“We want to put ourselves in the best position we can. All we can do today is control what we can control, so we gave ourselves a chance to finish in the Top 2,” said Munzon. “We’re a hungry young team, so we’re trying to build from here.”Also contributing to NorthPort’s ninth victory in 12 games were Arvin Tolentino (14 points, 11 rebounds), and Allyn Bulanadi and Paolo Taha who each had 10.The Batang Pier was only leading by four, 30-26, after the first period, but they came alive early in the second canto, with Bulanadi and Abu Tratter’s pair of lay-ins extending their lead to 10, 37-27, at the same frame’s 9:35 mark.Blackwater was actually able to stay within striking distance, 37-31, but this was when the first of many rampages of Tan’s troops occurred, as NorthPort answered with a 20-to-six run to build a 57-37 lead.The Batang Pier then used this momentum in the following quarters as they even distanced themselves by as big as 36, 109-73, and it was all they needed to end the elimination round with a win.Also a key in NorthPort’s victory was their 34 assists while only committing 14 turnovers, and this helped them tally a commendable 57% shooting from the field (45/79 FGs).On the other hand, the already-eliminated Blackwater squad, which was led by Justin Chua’s 15, ended the conference with a 3-9 record.<div>The Scores: </div>NorthPort 120 – Jack 30, Munzon 21, Tolentino 14, Bulanadi 12, Taha 12, Nelle 7, Navarro 7, Cuntapay 5, Flores 4, Yu 2, Onwubere 2, Tratter 2, Miranda 2.Blackwater 93– Chua 15, Ilagan 11, Tungcab 9, Escoto 9, Jopia 8, Corteza 8, Kwekuteye 7, Ayonayon 6, Guinto 5, David 5, Mitchell 4, Casio 3, Ponferrada 3, Suerte 0.Quarterscores:  30-26, 60-43, 90-63, 120-93.
