Akowe flexed his might with a 20-point, 19-rebound game to lead the Growling Tigers to their fourth win in five games, while Nic Cabañero finished with 22 markers, 11 boards, three assists, and two steals. “Never say die! Kahit anong mangyari, alam naman namin na andyan yung Thomasian community to support us,” said Cabañero, who also made crucial baskets in the extension. “Alam ko na advantage yung Ateneo, pero hindi lang talaga kami nag quit,” added Cabañero, who received help from Forthsky Padrigao, tallying 20 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block in his Ateneo homecoming. Tied at 85 to enter the third OT, the Growling Tigers scored nine straight points for a 94-85 lead as Akowe imposed his presence in a span of three minutes. Jaden Lazo sparked some life back into the Blue Eagles’ offense, scoring on a lay-in at the 2:02 mark as Ateneo stayed within bay, 87-94. However, Kyle Paranada drained a three-point dagger 30 seconds later for a 10-point lead, and that was all the España-based cagers needed to hand the Ateneans their second straight loss. Jared Bahay led the Blue Eagles with 17 points, six assists, three rebounds, and two steals, Kymani Ladi tallied 13, while Dom Escobar contributed 13.</div>
