Photo from FIBA Basketball.MANILA — The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s squad is up for a tough task in the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifiers, facing some of the best teams in the international scene. As a result of the Qualifying Tournament draw on October 7, the Philippines was grouped with world-ranked No. 3 France, No. 15 Korea, No. 12 Germany, No. 8 Nigeria, and No. 19 Colombia. The No. 39 Gilas will now look to earn one of the two tickets from their Lyon-Villeurbanne group, banking on their Top 6 finish in the 2025 Women’s Asia Cup. Meanwhile, Mali, South Sudan, Brazil, Belgium, Czechia and China comprise the Wuhan group. The San Juan, Puerto Rico tournament will see New Zealand, Puerto Rico, USA, Senegal, Italy and Spain, while the Istanbul, Türkiye group will have Hungary, Türkiye, Argentina, Australia, Canada and Japan.</div>
