Photo from PBA Images.MANILA — The Converge FiberXers are back in the win column of the PBA 50 Philippine Cup after it moved past Blackwater Bossing, 98-94, on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. Alec Stockton led the Delta Pineda-coached squad with 28 points and a pair each of rebounds, steals, and blocks, while Justin Baltazar posted 11 markers, 14 boards, and seven dimes as Converge notched its fourth win in six games. “Yung puso ng Converge ang nagpanalo sa amin. Talagang hindi sila sumuko sa huli,” raved Pampanga Vice Governor Pineda. Also vital in the win were Juan Gomez de Liaño who had 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals, and Justin Arana who listed an 11-point, 11-rebound outing. Facing a 90-92 deficit, Converge hacked out a nine-to-two surge to get the win, with Arana starting that run by tying the contest at 92 with still 3:51 remaining. Blackwater later on faced a 94-96 disadvantage, but Christian David lost the ball as they tried to force a deadlock, and Stockton and de Liaño then went on to hit their foul shots as they bounced back from their 90-96 loss to San Miguel Beer. On the other hand, Sedrick Barefield fired 33 points with five rebounds and three assists, while David posted 18 markers with seven boards, but the Bossing absorbed their fifth loss in six games.
