Photo by Angela Davocol/NCAA Philippines.MANILA — College of Saint Benilde was yet again on the wrong end of things as it concluded another NCAA men’s basketball season.</div>For the fourth straight year since reaching the Season 98 Final 4, the Blazers have fallen short of their championship hopes, this time losing to San Beda University in Game 3 of the Season 101 semifinals, 84–81.<div style="line-height:1.5"><a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2025/12/7/ncaa-san-beda-kicks-out-benilde-sets-up-rivalry-clash-vs-letran-in-finals-1642">READ: San Beda kicks out Benilde, sets up rivalry clash vs. Letran in Finals</a></div>That stretch includes Finals defeats to Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Mapua University, as well as Final 4 exits at the hands of both the Cardinals and the Red Lions.Benilde head coach Charles Tiu admitted that the setbacks have taken a toll on him, placing uncertainty over his future with the program.“To be honest, I still wanna stay with Benilde,” said Tiu, who shared that he only has a year left on his contract as head coach.“Job is not done for us, but if I’m being honest, it’s always a grind for me. There are days when: ‘Man, do I still want to do this?’ It’s tiring also. So we’ll have to see, I’ll have to discuss with my family,” he added.Without going into detail, Tiu revealed that there are parties who have sent feelers on top of his other personal priorities.“There is always pressure to focus on our businesses, and there are also some other teams from other leagues calling with opportunities there, so we’ll have to see,” he said.Still, what keeps Tiu from walking away, aside from his unfinished business, is the bond and culture they’ve built over the years.“My heart is with Benilde. One of my goals is to leave Benilde with a championship. This is another season that we came up short, but we’ll have to see,” he said.“I still feel that I want to help these players, and I just don’t want — if I leave — that players will not be prepared for it, may it be financially or other things, so we’ll have to discuss it first,” he added.If he does return for one more year, Tiu kept it simple when asked how they can recover from another heartbreaking campaign.“I still have to do a better job. At the end of the day, it all still falls to me,” he said.
