Photo courtesy of WUBS.MANILA — University of the Philippines is now out of contention in the World University Basketball Series 2025.</div>The Fighting Maroons are relegated to the classification stage after they fell short against Korea University, 75-71, Saturday evening in Tokyo, Japan.Terrence Fortea and Gani Stevens led State U with 14 and 13 points respectively, while Chico Briones and Francis Nnoruka each had 10 markers.Unfortunately, UP can now only compete for a fifth-place finish due to its early loss in the short tournament.This also means that a clash with fellow UAAP squad De La Salle University is not possible anymore.
