MANILA -- Blackwater Bossing head coach Jeff Cariaso is looking forward to what the trio of Sedrick Barefield, Christian David and Dalph Panopio can deliver in the PBA&#x27;s golden season.Cariaso said he can already see the potential of the three as early as now, despite them not sharing the court together yet as David nurses a shoulder injury.&quot;We know that they will be the cornerstones of our team. We also know that they&#x27;re young. So we have to go through the growing pains, the learning curve. So that&#x27;s going to be natural for us,&quot; he told reporters during PBA Media Day. &quot;But what&#x27;s nice and very exciting is these three are very exciting to watch. They have the talent, they have the skills. So it&#x27;s really now just being able to, you know, be ready game in and game out, understand how the game is here in the Philippines, especially for Dalph,&quot; the mentor added.Cariaso was all praises for their rookies, Panopio and UAAP standout Jack Cruz-Dumont, who had solid outings during their recent tune-up games.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2025/9/9/pba-once-in-a-lifetime-says-dalph-panopio-on-being-drafted-3rd-overall-1905">READ: &#x27;Once in a lifetime,&#x27; says Dalph Panopio on being drafted 3rd overall</a></div>&quot;We&#x27;re able to draft two guys, two young guys, that easily, easily got into the flow and the connection and the closeness of the team. So easily, sila nag-gel because of the character they have,&quot; he said.&quot;[They&#x27;re] good character kids. Love the sport, basketball has been their life. But at the same time, they&#x27;re good guys, you know, good character guys. And I think as a coach, that&#x27;s really your dream players,&quot; Cariaso said.For his part, Panopio said he is making the most out of the tune-up games to be more familiar with the Blackwater system.&quot;I&#x27;m really happy and excited because I&#x27;m so thankful na, you know, we get the chance to have these tune ups na they help us build up on as a team. And especially to me, it gives me a lot of experience. And I&#x27;m so happy because I get to learn talaga, I get to learn a lot, a lot of experience and stuff,&quot; said Panopio.Panopio, who was selected third overall in the PBA 50 Draft, is taking in all the experience to make sure he&#x27;s ready for the upcoming season.&quot;There are some ups and downs. I don&#x27;t wanna say everything is positive because, you know, what happens in practice it&#x27;s not what we used to, guys, see in the games. So like, in practice we struggle, so we try to fix it,&quot; he said. &quot;But, I think coach Jeff is doing a great job to keep the positivity and like, alam mo &#x27;yung good vibes sa team? So, I think that&#x27;s his main goal right now and I think he&#x27;s doing a great job,&quot; Panopio said.While the team has its sight set on making the playoffs, the Filipino-Italian guard said they will take it one game at a time.&quot;I honestly think that like we could be a good team because, you know, we are a group of young guys na everybody&#x27;s hungry to win. And from what I know this is practice, nobody is selfish… everybody&#x27;s on the same page,&quot; he said.&quot;So I think, it&#x27;s hard to say, as much as I want also to join the semifinals, but this is something that we gotta carry everyday, and we gotta stay together everyday... and there&#x27;s many challenges that&#x27;s gonna come throughout the season. So we&#x27;ll see,&quot; Panopio added.
