Paige Javier, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- After three-time NBA champion Danny Green stepped away from the game, he moved toward using his talent in another way.  The 38-year-old did not completely detach from the sport, instead choosing a path that still allowed him to still be part of the community.  Green has transitioned from making the shots to calling the game as an analyst, commentator for several networks and podcast host. <div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2026/3/14/which-nba-championship-was-the-hardest-for-danny-green-1027">READ: Which NBA championship was the hardest for Danny Green?</a></div>&quot;It&#x27;s been good, different. Mostly doing the media side now, working for Disney and ESPN and other networks I&#x27;ve dabbled in. And then parenting, mostly. So that aspect of it has been a new phase for me, but it&#x27;s been fun,&quot; he told ABS-CBN News in an exclusive interview on Saturday in Bonifacio Global City. Green revealed that he has been thinking of shifting to media even before retirement, given his background in communications. &quot;If I didn&#x27;t make it in basketball, it&#x27;s what I went to school for, so it&#x27;s what I wanted to do. You know, when you&#x27;re a young kid, you kind of have no idea what you want to do, but people around you say, you know, you&#x27;d be good at this if you kind of studied this or go into this. You could probably fall back on this if you don&#x27;t make it to the NBA,&quot; he shared. &quot;And [I] said, if I don&#x27;t make it in basketball, this is something that I wouldn&#x27;t mind doing, staying around the game and talking about the game.  Green said he networked, worked for his college degree and soaked in as much experience as he could so he would be ready for change, whenever it came. So for the NBA veteran, the transition was not as difficult compared to colleagues who made the shift from the court to the microphone.  &quot;Actually, [it&#x27;s] not so bad for me because I had some good people around me that helped the transition, make it easier throughout my career. So I kind of prepared for it while I was playing,&quot; he said. &quot;You know, I went to the Sportscaster U, I did the podcasting, I&#x27;ve gotten some reps in even before I retired. But it&#x27;s been different, but again, it&#x27;s been an easier transition for me than most guys because I&#x27;ve had so many outlets and resources to help me kind of smoothly change paths after playing,&quot; Green added. After calling several games and filming various podcasts, Green said playing the game is a bit harder than his current job. &quot;That&#x27;s a tough one because, I mean, basketball, we play it second nature for us, so it&#x27;s easy. Just adjusting to this, it&#x27;s not easy, it&#x27;s hard, it&#x27;s challenging to be in front of the camera, but I&#x27;d probably say playing the sport is probably just a little bit harder,&quot; he said. &quot;Because this is not our second nature, it&#x27;s new to us, we didn&#x27;t play this our whole lives. We played basketball for our whole lives, so it&#x27;s easy. But this is definitely hard, but probably just a tad bit less harder than playing basketball,&quot; Green shared. The 38-year-old lauded how there are more ways to watch the NBA, especially giving Filipino hoop fans easier access to the games and content about the players. &quot;You know, they have all the networks now, but the fanatics here, the fans here are unmatched. The passion you talk about that they have for the game is none like no other. They are one of a kind of how they are, you know, how they approach the game, how they watch the game, how much they love the game and the players and how much they support the game,&quot; Green said. Green currently hosts the podcasts &quot;Inside the Green Room&quot; and &quot;No Fouls Given with Paul Pierce.&quot;
