For us, this is just one-fourth of the journey toward another championship—finishing the regular season,” said Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire head coach Cholo Villanueva.“As I told the team, it’s like going up a mountain—we’re just one-fourth of the way. We have a lot of steps to go before reaching the goal.”The semifinal-bound Batangas-New Zealand Bluefire also drew a balanced offensive effort in its regular-season finale, with the starters seeing limited minutes as the bench unit stepped up and maintained the pressure to finish off a composed all-around performance.Snow Peñaranda led the way with 15 points and eight rebounds in less than 16 minutes of action, while Afril Bernardino posted 10 points, nine rebounds, and four assists in their second consecutive win in the tournament backed by Aktive.Rocel Dionisio added 10 points and eight boards off the bench, while Khate Castillo and Rizza Lozada chipped in eight points apiece.On the other hand, the Lady Kankaloo absorbed its fifth consecutive loss to close out the regular season at dead last with a 1-9 record.Roxanne Candido paced Caloocan with 10 points, while Dianne Pedregosa and Loraine Capilit added eight points each.
