Angela Davocol/NCAA Philippines. MANILA — College of Saint Benilde kept its five-peat hopes alive after sweeping Colegio de San Juan de Letran to force an all-or-nothing match in the NCAA Season 101 women’s volleyball Finals.</div>The Lady Blazers earned another shot at glory after overwhelming the Lady Knights, 25-18, 25-21, 27-25, in their Game 2 faceoff on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.Leading the four-time defending champions was freshly minted Most Valuable Player (MVP) Zam Nolasco, who posted 19 points on 16 attacks, two blocks, and one ace, including the game-winning kill in the extended third frame.“After nung natalo kami nung first game, sabi ko sa sarili ko na kaya ko pa, at dadalhin ko yung teammates ko sa Game 3,” said Nolasco, who was also hailed Best Middle Blocker.Also contributing was Rookie of the Year and Freshman of the Year Cam Bartolome, who tallied 14 points, while Best Setter Chenae Basarte orchestrated the offense with 24 excellent sets, along with two points.It was Nolasco and Bartolome who delivered when Letran threatened to extend the match in the third canto.After Saint Benilde squandered a 15-5 lead, Letran briefly took a 23-22 advantage following a late-frame surge which was capped off with an attack error by Fiona Inocentes. Bartolome then restored order, tying the contest with a quick attack from the middle.A Vanessa Sarie error later put the Lady Blazers at match point, 26-25, before Nolasco delivered an attack over the Lady Knights’ blockers to seal the victory.Benilde will look to carry the momentum into Game 3 on Friday, April 10, 3:00 p.m. at the same Manila venue.On the other hand, Letran will be seeking more from its stars Judiel Nitura and Vanessa Sarie, who were limited to nine and six points, respectively. Gia Maquilang and Verenicce Colendera stepped up with 11 markers apiece in the loss.
