Dingdong Dantes, Pepe Herrera win Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor at the Manila International Film Festival

<p>It’s double the triumph for “Rewind” stars Dingdong Dantes and Pepe Herrera as they won the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards, respectively, at the inaugural Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) held in Los Angeles last Feb. 3, 2024 (Philippine time). </p><p>In the film, Dingdong stars as John, the husband of Mary, which is played by his real-life wife Marian Rivera, while Pepe plays the role of Lods. </p><p>Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, “Rewind” tells the story of John who gets the chance to go back in time to save his wife from a tragic accident. </p><p>Though Pepe was not able to receive his award in person at the MIFF, Dingdong stood on his behalf and delivered a meaningful speech for his fellow actor. </p><p>“Pepe, congratulations sa ‘yo. Napakahusay talaga ng iyong pagganap. Bilib na bilib kaming lahat sa ‘yo,” said Dingdong on stage. “Kaya maraming salamat po sa pagkilala sa aking kasamahan na si Pepe Herrera. Pepe, we are so proud of you. Maraming salamat po, MIFF, at mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino!” </p><p>Sharing moments from the MIFF red carpet, Dingdong took to Instagram last February 5 to express his gratitude to the team behind “Rewind”, including the film’s story writer and former ABS-CBN executive Enrico Santos. </p><p>“When we decided to bring the beautiful story of Enrico Santos to life, I had one simple goal: to do my best to give justice to the role of John so that we could clearly convey the message of the film,” Dingdong said. </p><p>“My strategy was to strive to be the best partner to my leading lady, my wife, and my Mary, because it is seldom that I get to work with her in a film, much less something as meaningful as this. But none of this would have been possible without the guidance, clear direction, and openness of our director, Mae Cruz,” he added. “This recognition is very much attributed to how beautifully she crafted ‘Rewind’, along with the hardworking creative team of Star Cinema.” </p><p>“To Direk Mae, thank you very much for the trust and for never giving up on John. To the Star Cinema team, our DOP sir Neil, and our writer, Enrico, it was a pleasure to co-create this character with all of you,” Dingdong stressed. </p><p>He also gave a special shoutout to APT Entertainment, which co-produced the film, as well as the promo team, production team, Team DongYan, and bookers: “Your dedication and hard work were instrumental in bringing the beautiful story to life, and for that, I am truly grateful.” </p><p>Lastly, after thanking the unwavering support of his family and friends, Dingdong dedicated special words of appreciation to his wife and leading lady, Marian: “You and our kids are always my inspiration, especially in this challenging grind in the entertainment industry. This recognition and honor are dedicated to you. I would not have done this without you and your excellent talent and portrayal of Mary, with the utmost guidance of Lods.” </p><p>“As Dad always says, ‘everything comes from the Lord.
