In an insightful conversation with Bernadette Sembrano on her YouTube vlog, Joshua Garcia was asked how he felt about constantly being compared to John Lloyd Cruz. He humbly responded, "Dati pa naman… ako kasi ‘yung tipo ng tao na go with the flow eh so ‘pag sinasabi nila na para kang si John Lloyd ganun—overwhelming sa akin yon. Ano na ‘yon…parang masyado mo na akong pinupuri. Nakakataba ng puso…”

Joshua explained that the more people compared him to John Lloyd, the more he found himself unintentionally mirroring him, until he was eventually told about it by Sylvia Sanchez, “’Wag mong gayahin. Dapat may sarili ka…” and he answered “Hindi ko naman ginagaya pero, automatic na siyang lumalabas sa’kin..”

He mentioned that he has worked hard to discover his unique acting style, striving to distinguish himself from comparisons to other actors.

Discussing his age, Joshua noted that he feels like he’s 27 years old, with a mature outlook shaped by his role as the breadwinner for his family.

Joshua admitted that he is focused on personal growth. He shared that he’s constantly working on himself and values anything that can provide him with knowledge. For him, learning comes from various sources, including reading books and engaging with people. These experiences have broadened his understanding and contributed to his development. He also acknowledged the importance of guidance from those around him, particularly his parents, despite being unable to see them as often.

Joshua also reflected on how much he has changed, particularly in decision-making. He said that a significant shift from his earlier approach, where making decisions for himself was challenging. In the past, he often struggled to make choices independently, frequently seeking others' opinions before concluding. Joshua has noticed a significant boost in his decision-making ability, now handling choices with more confidence. This change highlights his growth and maturity, illustrating how he has developed a stronger sense of self-reliance while valuing input from those around him.

However, Joshua explained that his perspective has shifted as he has grown. He now has a clearer sense of direction and understands his role within his family more profoundly. He feels the gravity of his role, not as a burden but as a responsibility that demands seriousness. He acknowledged that his work is crucial not only for his well-being but also for supporting his family.

His career has evolved significantly after “Pinoy Big Brother,” marked by early struggles with rejections and project cancellations. However, his breakthrough role in “Barcelona: A Love Untold” and subsequent projects like Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita have paved the way for a more stable career. His collaboration with Director Rahyan Carlos and Star Magic further expanded his acting skills and deepened his passion.

Joshua finds joy in his busy life and the support he receives from his family and fans. He values meeting new people and exploring different countries, which adds to his contentment.

Joshua’s journey is a story of resilience, growth, and the ongoing pursuit of excellence in his personal and professional life, driven by his unwavering dedication and passion for his craft.
