Being public figures, celebrities are truly prone to malicious controversies and snide remarks from people who have nothing to do but throw rocks at things that shine. Just like Alexa Ilacad who has experienced being bashed for her body, which resulted to her having to suffer from the mental health condition called body dysmorphia, or the excessive worrying about flaws in one’s appearance. However, through the encouragement of her loved ones, ardent supporters, and her <a href="https://ent.abs-cn.com/pbbs10" target="_blank">Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10</a> family, she’s able to overcome those and become more confident with herself. And now, as one of the champions of body positivity and neutrality, Alexa ferociously and wittily clapped back to haters and even schooled them about body image-related issues in this video.From remarks about voluptuous women wearing swimsuits, women being disrespected because of the outfits they wear, sexy women having lots of boyfriends, men wearing makeup, to body positivity causing more troubles because of how it allegedly ingrains the notion that being malnourished and obese are just fine – Alexa had impressive responses to those. She then related a comment that she heard or saw that she did not like and imparted it completely affected her. According to her, there was once a basher who said: “Hindi na ako magtataka kung nababastos si Alexa. She deserves it because she’s asking for it. Kasi lagi siyang naka-swimsuit.” Seeing that comment absolutely got her fuming mad because of how super toxic and shallow that kind of mindset is. “’Di ba, wala sa pananamit ‘yong dahilan? Hindi ‘yon dahilan kung bakit nababastos ang mga tao, ‘yong mga babae. Kaya nababastos ang mga babae kasi may bastos. ‘Yon lang ‘yon. Damit lang ‘yan e, and the fact na ginagawang excuse ang ‘she’s probably asking for it, gusto niya ‘yan, deserve niya ‘yong mabastos kasi ganyan’, grabe, hindi naturuan nang tama. Kailangan niya si Lord,” the 23-year-old actress firmly conveyed. When asked for her message to everyone, this is what Alexa has to say: “Please be kinder, the world needs it. Sabi nga ni Ariana Grande, masyado na tayong comfortable commenting about someone else’s body, talking about other people’s bodies, and what we want to see in other bodies and how we think it should look like, things we want to project on other people.”She continued, “So, I pray for us to just be kinder [and] gentler, and to also remember that not everything that we see on social media is real, not everything is attainable, and totoo ‘yong sinasabi nila na every body is different. Let’s try to think kinder thoughts and remember that our body is our vessel. It is our home. It is doing everything it can to keep us alive, and that is enough to be thankful for. And that is enough reason to love our body.”
