Pinoy Big Brother Connect alums Andi Abaya and Kobie Brown connected with each other and their fans in the recent episode of Hotspot. Get to know these two rising stars a little better by watching their complete interview with DJ Jhai Ho!

KoDrea, their love team, is one of the highlighted pairings on the upcoming first-ever Star Magic Studios digital movie Connected. Kobie shares that young viewers will connect with this film, as they can surely relate to the stories and challenges encountered by three groups of Gen Z kids. The mysteries and connection of love, life, and fate will also unfold throughout the film.

Andi added that people would also appreciate the value of connections with other people, whether they are expected or unexpected. They will see how it all contributes to one’s learning and growth as a person.

With DJ Jhai and the rest of the live viewers excited for Connected,” the stars introduced their respective characters. Andi will play Gabbie, a geeky wallflower that doesn’t fit in the popular crowd, but she’ll be going out of her comfort zone to get the attention of her school crush, Topher.

Topher, played by Kobie, is a rich and popular jock who has quite an ego. Unknown to many, he has his own issues to deal with. We’ll be seeing how he overcomes them in the film.

This is Kobie and Andi’s first starring role in a movie. Andi shared that she and her co-stars feel the pressure especially since this is the first-ever movie of Star Magic Studios. However, they don’t let that pressure get the best of them.

“That pressure really did push me and Kobie, and the rest of the cast, to do our best, to give our all,” she said.

Kobie agreed with Andi and added that the whole experience felt “unreal”. Now that it’s premiering soon, he just feels excited to see it on the big screen and have many viewers enjoy it.

After all, they worked really hard on the film. DJ Jhai revealed that some of their co-stars remarked how professional Kobie and Andi are on the set. While they are still newbies to the industry, they have adjusted to the tedious work — making notes on their characterizations, practicing lines, and immediately getting into character once the filming begins.

Andi and Kobie are grateful that their efforts were given recognition by their colleagues. Andi said that she and Kobie were able to build that routine since they have been working with each other for quite some time already. Their bond deepened too while working together in the rom-com series “Love In 40 Days”.

“We would throw lines with each other. Kung may mabigat na eksena, mag-i-internalize na kami, and we would [help] each other find that ‘hugot’ or ‘karga’ para ma-deliver namin nang maayos,” she explained their process.

Kobie also showed appreciation for Andi, as she constantly supported him in difficult and heavy scenes. Aside from helping him practice lines, she would also help him internalize by letting him get in the zone before shooting a scene.

While they’re always together on and off the set, they don’t get tired of each other. “Never ako nabo-bore kay Andi. There’s always something new or exciting about her,” Kobie said.

Regardless, they do their best to strengthen their friendship outside of work. “Kapag may time ako, I love to hang out with Andi,” Kobie shared and told how they would meet up sometimes and hang out. Andi added that one of their favorite activities is playing video games together.

With regards to being public figures that are always on social media to connect with fans, DJ Jhai was curious if they ever wanted a moment to stop it all and get off social media. Andi opened that there was one time she experienced this. After leaving the PBB house, her grandfather on her father’s side got sick, and because she had prior engagements with work, she couldn’t be fully present for her family. This memory always makes her emotional, as she regrets not giving enough time for her family during such a difficult time.

So, when her other grandfather passed away and her family needed her, she dropped everything. “I decided I’m gonna pause and be there with my family,” she recalled. For her, we shouldn’t forget to focus on the people that matter so we have to stop and think from time to time.

Their movie Connected” gives that message in a way, too. Andi said that viewers would take away the value of relationships we create. “Be grateful sa mga tao sa buhay mo na nandiyan para sa ‘yo… Hindi mo dapat i-take advantage o abusuhin kasi sila ang mga taong tunay na nagmamahal sa’yo,” she added.

Kobie also said that viewers would truly learn how to look after relationships they make and form genuine connections.

To let KoDrea connect on a deeper level, DJ Jhai had them engage in a fun “Compliment Battle.” Andi and Kobie each took turns giving a compliment to the other person. The twist is that the recipient of the compliment shouldn’t smile or laugh.

Kobie already knew he might lose this challenge, but he was ready to play along. He gave the first compliment to Andi through a pick-up line. He asked her, “What’s ‘mahal kita’ in English?” Andi who had a cool straight face said, “I love you.” Kobie smiled and told her back, “I love you too”.

While viewers and DJ Jhai could feel all the kilig, Andi’s game face was still on-point. She didn’t smile or laugh at all until DJ Jhai said the timer was up. Andi did admit that she had a hard time keeping it together.

It was Kobie’s turn to be complimented. Andi made herself as adorable as possible by giving Kobie a slew of cute compliments using her baby voice. However, her sweet powers didn’t work on Kobie who kept his lips in a straight line the whole time. Turns out, he was just avoiding Andi’s eyes to stop himself from smiling or laughing.

Get more kilig feels by watching KoDrea’s Hotspot interview and finishing their exciting “Compliment Battle”!
