Gela Atayde: 10 things you don't know about me

Before, we used to only know her as one of the children of veteran character actress Sylvia Sanchez and the younger sister of seasoned actors Arjo and Ria Atayde. But at present, Gela Atayde is slowly creating her own name in the local entertainment scene as one of the up-and-coming artists of ABS-CBN’s talent arm Star Magic.

And in this Entertainment.ABS-CBN.com Exclusive, she further introduced herself to us by sharing 10 things that we probably do not know about her yet.

First off is that she’s a certified dog lover, for she has seven dogs that all live in her room with her. We really wonder how rowdy yet fun-filled her room could be with her beloved pooches around.

As we’re about to see her in her first-ever foray in acting through the upcoming series “Senior High," it’s important to know that Gela’s first love is actually dancing. In fact, she’s part of the Filipino dance group Legit Status, who won first runner-up in the Megacrew Division of the 2023 Philippine HipHop Dance Championship last March and will be competing in the World Hip Hop Dance Championship in Phoenix, Arizona this coming June to represent our country. Her Kuya Arjo actually used to be part of the said group before becoming an actor in 2012.

Another common interest that she shares with Arjo is the love for shopping. She jested that she considers retail therapy as the best therapy for her.

Furthermore, she also loves Disneyland enthusiastically describing it as “my happiest place on earth." Then she added, “If I can go to Disneyland as much as I can, everyday I would.”

Aside from being a talented dancer, Gela, unbeknown to us, is actually athletic too. According to her, she had tried a lot of sports before she learned that she’s really into dancing.

Unlike her Ate Ria, who, according to her, isn't keen on being dolled up, Gela likes to dress up. And since she loves fashion, we can assume that clothes probably comprise most of her purchases whenever she goes shopping.

She may appear outgoing and friendly, but Gela revealed that she’s really an introvert, which is something that people don’t realize about her. While she seems gregarious, she confessed that it’s actually difficult for her to get comfortable talking to others right away.

Like other girls her age, or other girls who grew up watching and listening to Justin Bieber, she has also fallen in love with the global pop superstar and is a self-confessed Belieber (or a Bieber fangirl) herself.

And lastly, while most of us consider chocolate as our favorite, she actually doesn't like chocolates. It all started when she was told growing up by her family that she’s allergic to it. However, she found out that she’s indeed not and they only did that in order to stop her from consuming too much chocolates since she used to be obese back then.
