In the Kapamilya series The Broken Marriage Vow, David (Zanjoe Marudo)’s secrecy is slowly wrecking his inner peace and both relationships he’s trying to keep. But, still torn between the legal wife Jill (Jodi Sta Maria) and mistress Lexy (Sue Ramirez), the cheating husband will do his best to keep them both, even if it entails a lot of lying and manipulation, shown in this Kapamilya Toplist of scenes from the trending teleserye.

The video opens with Jill putting her cards on the table, wishing to clear her hunches about David having an affair. Feigning honesty, David looked Jill straight in the eye and lovingly declared that she’s the only woman he will love until his last breath.

The next events, however, would reveal his deepest secrets. Jill received a call from her student-turned-spy Diane (Jane Oineza), giving her blow-by-blow updates on David’s activities, which ended with him kissing another woman, whom they’re yet to identify at the time.

In the trending party scene, Jill discovered receipts of the affair and witnessed the offenders flirting. Tension filled the air when Jill and Lexy came face-to-face as the latter picked up David’s wedding ring from the ground. David, noticeably nervous, meddled in the encounter by reviving the party mood with his speech filled with affectionate words for Jill, even if Lexy could hear everything.

The romantic declarations of love ignited Lexy’s self-doubt, which she candidly confessed to David after the party. She said David’s promises to Jill are bigger compared to what she gets from him. Sneaking out of that tricky situation, David vowed to also love Lexy “forever and ever.”

In another scene, David asked Jill’s opinion on his outfit for an important event, which Lexy was also invited to because of her parents’ connections to the project. Asked why the sudden effort to look young, David said he wanted to imbibe the project’s theme, which is youthful and vibrant. Then, serving a hard-hitting innuendo, Jill replied that David should instead try to look mature, professional, and someone trustworthy.

David tried to talk to Lexy during the event but Jill walked up to him. He casually re-introduced the two women to each other. Listening to the exchange of pleasantries, David low-key panicked upon hearing Lexy’s plan to leave for the States.

In the next scene, he convinced her to stay, again by using his stalling tactics. He swayed Lexy’s emotions by telling her she’s the only person that makes him see his worth. In turn, Lexy kept the relationship even if she had to be treated like a secret. She easily believed David’s promise to end things with Jill soon, trying to prove that she’s an understanding girlfriend.

Lexy’s faith in David got a bit wobbly, though, when she got pregnant. Knowing that Lexy was starting to doubt the relationship, David uttered words that would fit her emotional vulnerability, like insisting that he has the right over their baby.

They say the number one rule in cheating is to deny no matter what happens. For David, denial is only a part of the strategy. It has to be supplemented by spinning Jill’s reality. In the scene where she boldly asked if he’s having an affair, David played it cool and said Jill might just be stressed out. He even asked her to take on a vacation to relax her mind, as she’s just being paranoid. All these, he said, in the most loving way possible.
