Zanjoe Marudo and Zaijian Jaranilla have been receiving both hate and love because of their roles in The Broken Marriage Vow. Here’s how they react to the intense ‘gigil’ and what viewers should watch for as the trending series opens a new chapter.

Mean comments are nothing new to Zanjoe, playing the cheating husband David Ilustre. Haters would even call him names in public. “Sumisigaw sila. May naririnig ako na ‘Hoy! Manloloko ka! Sinungaling ka!’ 'Yung mga ganun,” he said in an episode of Star Magic Inside News. But for him, causing a stir among audiences only means they’re being watched, “Siyempre, nakakatuwa na kahit saan ako magpunta, may nanonood ng The Broken Marriage Vow."

Besides Zanjoe, Zaijian portraying the rebellious son Gio Ilustre has now become a focal point of ‘gigil.’ After all, Filipino viewers despise an arrogant, selfish, and disrespectful son. Akin to Zanjoe’s mentality, Zaijian would rather take the hate as a badge of honor, “'Pag naiinis sila o natutuwa sa ginagawa mo, parangang saya sa feeling kasi tama 'yung acting. Kaya masaya po.”

While acting alongside seasoned actors brings a load of pressure, it gives him the chance to also learn more about the craft, especially from his onscreen parents Zanjoe and Jodi Sta Maria. “Masarap silang kasama. Mas natutuwa ako na marami akong napupulot na aral sa kanila. Kahit nakikinig lang ako sa kanila magkwentuhan, natutuwa ako dahil parang welcome ako sa tropahan nila,” he said of the more senior stars.

He added that Zanjoe and Jodi model professionalism on the set. They respect and are kind to each other, so it’s easy to also grow close with them. Zaijian shared that he hangs out with Zanjoe outside work. Meanwhile, he sustains contact with Jodi by exchanging sweet comments on social media.

Back to Zanjoe, he said viewers must expect more ‘gigil’ in the coming episodes as David and Lexy (Sue Ramirez) get married and start a new life, dragging Gio into their mess. Plus, the entrance of Jake Ejercito as Gabby will add more spice to the teleserye.
