According to her, her family initially didn’t know that she sent her audition video online until her mother received a call a few weeks later from a staff member relaying to them the good news that she made it to the blind auditions. She decided not to immediately tell them since she was afraid to disappoint them, so she waited for the results of her audition first.While it was indeed a great feat, her mother was actually hesitant about her pursuing it, mainly because they lack finances and she had no companion here in Manila since she has a five-year-old sibling. Fortunately, her mom had little savings and they were able to borrow money from their relatives as well, which made it possible for her to join the Blind Auditions. And all their efforts and sacrifices were definitely worth it, for she was proclaimed the grand winner.The day after the grand finals, their family decided to go to Quiapo to visit the church, offer prayers, and roam around the vicinity to buy fruits. While apparently nobody recognized her during that trip, it was totally a different case when she returned to her hometown since her townsfolk could identify her even though she wears a face mask.When quizzed about how she feels being the grand winner of the last edition of the The Voice franchise under ABS-CBN, Jillian admitted that she couldn’t help but be sad since she’s among those who was able to watch it ever since the very beginning. At the same time, she’s also glad and honored to be hailed as the last winner of the competition, which ran for decades and several editions.With regards to being a protégé of Coach Bamboo, she imparted, “Napaka-jolly niya pong magturo. Lahat po ng kaya niyang ituro, tinuturo niya po talaga sa amin lalo na po kapag may mali. Paminsan-minsan po seryoso, mayroon din pong nagjo-joke siya. Kahit po nagtratabaho siya as a coach, nandoon pa rin po ang joy, nandoon pa rin po ang bonding, nandoon pa rin po ‘yong saya. Hindi lang po puro turo.”Among the many things that he had taught her, Jillian said that staying focused and enjoying the performance were among the most notable. There was also an instance when he and the The Voice staff made her cry by letting her family surprise her during one of their shoots.As she also aspires to be an artista, the barrio lass enthused that she will willingly grab any opportunity that will be given to her. She wishes to work with her ultimate idols, namely, Coach Bamboo, Juan Karlos Labajo, Kyle Echarri, Sarah Geronimo, and Belle Mariano.Apart from her dream of making it to the entertainment scene, she also yearns to fulfill her ambition of giving her family their own house and a comfortable life, which her parents had never experienced. Furthermore, she also desires to pursue either Criminology or Nursing in college after being inspired by Coco Martin’s now-iconic character Cardo Dalisay in <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/angprobinsyano">FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano</a> and by the nurses who assisted her every time she visited the hospital. She hopes to be successful soon so that she’ll be able to fulfill her promise of providing for their family’s needs and not letting her parents go through the same plight that they used to have.The interview concluded with Jillian manifesting that she would still be in showbiz five years from now, doing concerts and collaborating with various artists.We’re rooting for your success, Jillian!
