TWBA Throwback: Brenda Mage recalls first wanting to becoming an actor at a young age

Brenda Mage, or Bryan Roy Tagarao, in real life, used to hide his sexual preference from his family. He even had two girlfriends in the province when he was younger and he had a masculine physique which he thought would be good enough for a porter’s job, a line of work that he could’ve probably ended up with if he didn’t took the chance to audition in Japan as a comedian.

On his free time, Brenda would upload Vlog entries with comical content, one of which, the Yakiniko Biyasa Style video, has gone viral. This created a loud clamor from his avid audiences in Japan. But he would later on decide to come home to the Philippines once his contract ends. Besides, he felt tired of the demands of his ‘creative’ work abroad.

It seemed like Brenda made the right choice as his homecoming landed him to a promising career in local entertainment. He became part of the Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda’s Metro Manila Film Festival 2019 entry, “The Mall, The Merrier,” a blessing that is more than what he asked for. Brenda says never in his wildest dreams did he imagine working with his idol even though he has always dreamt of becoming a showbiz personality. He jokingly shares an anecdote about doing an intense ‘sampalan’ scene in the movie but only to find the clip omitted from the final cut.

The Miss Q & A 2019 finalist was dubbed as the “Pogi Hunter” in YouTube due to uploading videos that mostly feature random handsome guys, a flight attendant in one of his trips, for instance. Brenda demonstrates his vlogging technique by spotting a cute guy among the TWBA live audience.

The hilarious Jasaan, Misamis Oriental native reveals that his boyfriend left him for another woman after he refused to lend him fifty thousand pesos. He didn’t shed a tear for his ex-boyfriend, though. In line with this, Brenda plays a dice game to clear up his relationship what ifs. He expresses curiosity on whether his ex-boyfriend really loved him for real. The answer is a ‘yes’.

Taking on the Fast Talk Challenge, Brenda showed utmost admiration for Marco Gumabao who he named as the sexiest man in the Philippines and the last guy who made him kilig. “Noong inutangan ako ng jowa ko”, Brenda quips when asked about the last time he got mad.
