Ang isang organisasyon kasi sa Subic, Zambales ay bumibili na rin ng cigarette butts o stubs -- &quot;beha&quot; sa wikang Filipino. </p><p>Viral sa Facebook ang post ng Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) kung saan hinikayat nila ang netizens na magpulot ng cigarrette butts na bibilhin nila sa halagang P300 kada kilo.</p><p>Kasalukuyang may 48,600 shares at 32,000 reactions na ang Facebook post ng SBMA. Maraming netizens na rin ang nagpahayag ng kanilang interes na magbenta ng cigarrette butts. </p><p>Bagama&#x27;t ipinagbabawal na ang paninigarilyo sa mga pampublikong lugar, nagkalat pa rin sa lansangan ang mga cigarrette butts. </p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/05/18/17/smoking-ban-epektibo-na-sa-buong-bansa">BASAHIN: Smoking ban epektibo na sa buong bansa</a></li></ul><p>Ayon sa <a href="https://psa.gov.ph/article/173-million-filipino-adults-are-current-tobacco-smokers">datos</a> ng Philippine Statistic Authority noong 2009, may humigit-kumulang 17.3 milyong Pilipino ang smokers. Ito&#x27;y sa kabila ng katakot-takot na <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/03/07/18/look-new-anti-smoking-graphic-warnings">graphic warnings</a> kalakip ng mga kaha ng sigarilyo. </p><p>Bukod sa masamang epekto nito sa kalusugan ng tao, nag-iiwan din ng kalat sa kapaligiran ang sigarilyo. </p><p>Ayon kay Ameth Dela Llana, ang department manager ng SBMA, cigarette butts, candy wrappers, at plastic straws ang pangunahin nilang nakokolekta tuwing sila&#x27;y nagsasagawa ng coastal cleanups. </p><p>Ang cigarrette butts ay naglalaman din ng iba&#x27;t ibang toxic chemicals, tulad ng arsenic, cadmium, at lead, na maaring magkontamina sa tubig at lupa. </p><div><strong>HEAVIEST BUTT CAMPAIGN </strong></div><div><script src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v2.5" async="" type="text/javascript"></script></div><div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10155291203416935&amp;set=gm.948508535304498&amp;type=3&amp;theater" data-width="auto"> </div><p>Para solusyunan ang problemang ito, inilunsan ng SBMA ang &quot;Heaviest Butt&quot; program na parte ng kanilang &quot;War on Waste&quot; campaign. Ang programang ito ay naglalayong humanap ng paraan para i-recycle ang mga nagkalat na cigarette butt, straw, at iba pang basura. </p><p>&quot;There are estimated 4.5 trillion cigarette butts that litter the world every year. It contaminates our soil and waters. Through our campaign, we hope to raise awareness on responsibility of disposing wastes and litters properly,&quot; ani Dela Llana sa isang pahayag sa ABS-CBN News. </p><p>Ayon kay Dela Llana, 5 hanggang 10 taon ang hihintayin bago mag-decompose ang cigarrette butts. Mahirap din itong i-recycle dahil sa nilalaman nitong toxicity, kaya kailangan munang pag-aralan kung paano ito magagamit muli. </p><p>&quot;We partnered with a local company that manufactured their own machine for recycling and upcycling. We need 20-60 kilograms of cig butts for a study if the smell and toxicity can be removed so they can be of any other use,&quot; ani Dela Llana. </p><p>Kung magtatagumpay ang kanilang pag-aaral, binabalak nilang gawing bricks o hollow blocks ang patapon na sanang cigarrette butts. </p><p>Dagdag ni Dela Llana, bukod sa kikita na ng pera, makakatulong ka pa sa kapaligiran sa pagsali sa &quot;Heaviest Butt&quot; program. Para sa mga nais magbenta, maaring dalhin ang mga nakolektang cigarrette butts sa SBMA Ecology Center, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City. </p>
