Common colds peak during the rainy season. That's why health experts are advising the public to strengthen their immune system to fight off viruses that cause this viral disease.

Colds and flu typically surface during the wet season due to lack of sunlight. Research shows that Vitamin D deficiency hampers the body's defenses against illnesses.

According to Webmd.com, an online health and well-being site, exercising helps in increasing the body’s resistance to colds because it creates white blood cells that fight off bacteria and viruses. Drinking eight glasses of water can likewise help by flushing out the toxins from the body.

Infectious disease expert Dr. Rey Salinel, meanwhile, advised getting enough rest and using a vapor rub with 8-hour relief to help you feel better during the recovery process.
