A new wall is being buiit to replace the collapsed section of the river wall in Barangay San Jose, Navotas City, which caused severe flooding on June 28.

Previously, the damaged section was temporarily patched up using sandbags and plywood.

But with construction still unfinished, many residents remain anxious that flooding could happen again, especially with the rainy season.

Baka pag mag-high tide, mamaya itulak," said resident Rizaldy Barrido.

Some said the collapsed wall and flooding left a lasting impact on the entire community.

"Natatakot rin po lalo na mangyari din po 'yung nangyari 'yung aksidente, lahat kami dito apektado," said another resident Shirley Dagohoy Jr.

Barangay Kagawad Jonet Langit said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) began rebuilding the river wall last Thursday.

He also said that water has not entered the area since construction of the new wall began, but with higher tides expected next week, he hopes the project will be completed as soon as possible.

According to the Navotas City Public Information Office's social media page, the pace of construction is being affected by high tide and rainfall. But efforts are being made to complete the wall as soon as possible.
