The initial cost of damage to infrastructure due to a deadly earthquake that struck Surigao City on Friday has been pegged at P201 million, the Department of Public Works and Highways DPWH said.

DPWH district engineer Henry Marapao said, most bridges are generally passable, except Anao-aon Bridge, which has split and isolated the municipalities of San Francisco and Malimono.

"We are trying na para lahat ng tulay na ito madaanan. Problem lang talga iung Anao-aon Bridge. Until now, hindi pa passable dahil nag-collapse and 2 stand," Marapa said.

"Naglagay kami ng temporary bridge para para sa mga tao and may ginagawa ang Provincial Engineering [Office] na detour."

(We are trying our best to ensure all bridges are passable. The only problem is Anao-aon Bridge, which remains impassable due to two collapsed stands. So, we put up a temporary timber bridge for the people, while the provincial engineers plan a detour route.)
