MANILA – Some jeepney drivers have not been giving passengers their change when they pay their fare, a transport group said, as oil prices continue to spike amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/video/business/03/08/22/rollback-malabo-presyo-ng-petrolyo-maaaring-tumaas-pa">Rollback malabo, presyo ng petrolyo maaaring tumaas pa: DOE</a></li></ul>“Meron pong nagasasabing mga pasahero na pag nagbabayad daw po sila ng P10 e hindi na daw po sinusuklian,” said Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP) national president Ricardo “Boy” Rebaño.He said, however, that some passengers have not asked for their change anymore in consideration of the plight of jeepney drivers. “Pero ayon na din po naman sa ibang mga pasahero eh for consideration po doon sa patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng petroleum product, hindi na rin po nila kinukuha yung P1 na dapat isukli sa mga pasahero,” he said.Rebaño stressed, “Hindi po talaga puwersahang sinisingil ng P10 ang bawat pasahero. Eh nanggagaling din po sa ating mga pasahero ang konsiderasyon.”He noted, however, that their petition for a fare hike is “almost approved” by government.“Kahit papaano po ay maiibsan ho yung problema naming mga driver dahil ho sa naging hearing kahapon at almost approved na po itong P1 na hinihiling po namin,” he said.“Dahil po kinakailangan na lang po maglabas ng resolution order ang ating gobyerno para po makamit na naman ng drayber ang aming P1 na hinihiling sa kanila.”<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/business/02/27/22/transport-strike-eyed-by-group-to-push-fare-hike">Transport group says it will go on strike to push for fare hike</a></li></ul>National Center for Commuter Safety and Protection founder Elvira Medina, for her part, said their group has no objections to the P1 fare hike sought by jeepney drivers.“Noon pa po nang nagkaroon ng petition, noong 70 percent pa lang ang capacity na pinapayagan, humihiling sila ng P3 ay sumang-ayon na po kami riyan. E di lalo pong maganda ngayon nang 100 percent na ang capacity ay P1 na lang ang hinihingi nila, talaga pong hindi kami sasalungat,” she said.She noted, however, that they are against increasing the minimum fare to P15.“Ang isang commuter po, ‘di po bababa sa 2 sakay ang ginagamit hanggang makarating sa kanyang pinapasukan. So kung yun po ay P15, sa bawat isang sakay, papunta pa lang po P30 na.”“Ang pauwi niya another P30. Ang ibig sabihin po, P60 ang magiging pamasahe ng, dagdag sa pamasahe niya. Yun po ay equivalent sa isa’t kalahating kilong bigas na gagawin natin mula sa hapag-kainan po ng ating mga commuter,” she explained.“Mahihirapan na po ang ating mga commuters dahil sa laki po ng naging pagtaas ng hindi lang ng ating pamasahe kundi pati yung ating mga binibili sa pang-araw-araw.”She also appealed to jeepney drivers not to charge their passengers higher fares until these are approved by government.“Makikusap naman kami, pare-pareho po tayong nandito sa sitwasyon na ito, hindi lang po kayo kundi ang ating mga commuters, pare-pareho po tayong nandito sa laban na ito.”“Magkaroon naman sana sila ng pagbubukas ng kanilang puso na itama lang po sa naayon sa batas yung kanilang ipasusunod.
