The Korean wave has taken the Philippine entertainment scene by storm. And it’s doing wonders for the friendship between South Korea and the Philippines, although this isn't a new bond; there are plenty of historic moments proving this connection has deep roots.

In the world of performing arts, the blend of South Korean and Filipino entertainment is seamless. A prime example is the adaptation of K-Dramas into Philippine versions. Take, for instance, “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim,” which upped the game by inviting Korean star Kim Won Shik to make a special appearance in the Pinoy version of the popular series.

In the Philippine adaptation starring Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino as Secretary Kim and Brandon Manansala Castillo, respectively, Korean star Kim Won Shik plays the young and charismatic COO, Daniel Park. His presence adds an exciting twist to the story, as his intimidating aura sets him up as a fierce rival to Paulo’s BMC.

Kim Won Shik isn’t new to Filipino culture; he lived in the country for six and a half years. But his stint in “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” has certainly made him fall even more in love with our local traditions and lifestyle.

In the recent episodes aired on free TV, Daniel Park’s character was already introduced, as BMC’s Prime Alpha Pharm tapped the Parks’ company to distribute their products throughout the whole Asian region exclusively.

As a special welcome for Daniel and his family, Prime Alpha prepared a special number featuring the beautifully regal Muslim dance 'singkil.' Kim Won Shik seemed to really enjoy this part, as seen in a behind-the-scenes video.

You'll see in the video the fun preparations of the dancers and some cute interactions among the stars.

In ‘singkil,’ performers must step nimbly between moving bamboo poles that could trip them up or cause a mishap with one wrong move. ‘Bawal mahulog’ – but, oops, looks like someone already fell. Watch the video for that moment when Kim stumbled, and Paulo was there to catch her.
