<p>Peruvian archaeologists have discovered the ruins of a 4,000-year-old temple in northern Peru buried under a dune, as well as human skeletal remains from religious rituals, experts said.</p><p>The ruins were hidden in a sand dune in the district of Zana, in the Lambayeque region, some 780 kilometers (484 miles) north of Lima, said Luis Muro, an archaeologist at the private Catholic University and head of the team.</p><p>On the dune and surrounded by vegetation, the archaeologists found the walls and bases of the temple, which had several levels and was built of adobe. They also found the skeletal remains of three adult persons that suggest they were sacrificed in ritual ceremonies.</p><p>On one of the temple&#x27;s walls is a high-relief drawing of a human body and a bird&#x27;s head, a mythological figure from religious beliefs of the time. These characteristics preceded the remote Chavin culture on the country&#x27;s central coast.</p><p>Muro said that in another excavation in the same area, they found the remains of what would be another temple, which belonged to the Late Moche culture, which emerged later, about 1,400 years ago, and was also buried by sand. <strong>- Report from Reuters</strong></p><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div>
