KZ Tandingan shares the big risk she took in her debut album

<div><img src="" alt="061213-kz_main.jpg" align="left" border="0" height="290" width="305"/>After being hailed as <i>X-Factor</i>’s grand winner in 2012, KZ Tandingan’s self-titled debut album under Star Records is now out in the market. In an exclusive interview with <a href="http://www.Push.com.ph">Push.com.ph</a>, the young singer shared what she undertook to record her very first album.</div><div><br/></div><div>“<i>Medyo naging matagal bago nagkaroon ako ng</i> album since<i> nanalo ako, pero</i> base <i>naman sa naging produkto ng naging</i> recording<i> namin, maganda naman ‘yung naging resulta. Pero wala pa po ‘yung</i> grand album launch. <i>Pinaghahandaan pa po namin,</i>” she remarked.</div><div><br/></div><div>KZ relayed that her record is mainly composed of original tracks but includes some covers. “Mostly original,<i> dinagdag lang ‘yung </i>‘<i>Scared to Death</i>,’ ‘<i>Huwag Ka ng Umiyak</i>’ at tsaka ‘<i>Killing Me Softly,</i>’” she said. The singer shared that a song which she penned way back in college is now part of the album. “’<i>Yung</i> song <i>na sinulat ko</i> in college <i>pa, ni</i>-record<i> namin siya tapos ‘yung na</i> record n<i>amin na ‘yun, ‘yun ‘yung mismo ang nalagay</i> [<i>sa </i>album],” she relayed. KZ conveyed that it was a song about young love which she experienced as a college girl. “It’s a cute love song<i> nung mga</i> time<i> na may</i> crush<i> ako. ‘Yung</i> time<i> na</i> the feeling of being in love,<i> ganon</i>,” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>The <i>X-factor</i> grand winner admitted that it was a big risk to include more original songs than covers, which is not usually the case with most OPM records nowadays. “<i>’Yung</i> risk<i> na tinake namin na</i> mostly originals, <i>‘yun nga </i>it’s a big risk <i>kasi parang di ba mas madaling sabayan ng tao ‘yung mga kantang alam na nila pero ginawan mo lang ng</i> version.<i> Pero</i> giving them a new song and a sound is hard<i> na baka may</i> tendency <i>na hindi nila masabayan</i>,” she commented.</div><div><br/></div><div>Nonetheless, KZ is proud of what came to be her very first album and remarked that artistry is one essential thing that she upholds in her work. “Never lose your sense of artistry. Sometimes we tend to be safe <i>para iwasan ‘yung</i> failure, <i>ganito, ganyan, pero nawawala tayo sa sarili natin</i> in the process,” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>As a product of reality singing competition, KZ shared her advice to all the aspiring singers who want to join reality TV contests like her. “<i>Huwag na huwag silang titigil sa pag-</i>practice,<i> sa pag-</i>hone <i>ng</i> craft<i> nila kasi hindi matatapos ang</i> process ng learning as an artist,” she remarked. She also said to always perform for God and to commit once self to every performance. “You don’t perform for yourself, you don’t perform for the people who are watching,<i> pero</i> you are performing for God.<i> At kailangang walang maliit na</i> show,<i> walang malaki na </i>show, as long as in-ask <i>ka na mag</i>-perform <i>kailangang ibigay mo ang</i> best <i>mo</i>.”</div>
