If there’s one thing that Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha remains utterly grateful for in her enduring career, she said it’s the Filipinos’ unwavering love for her despite leaving the country back in 2004 to pursue a career in the US.
In an interview with Lani during the recently-concluded press conference for her upcoming La Nightingale concert at the Araneta Coliseum on December 6, she revealed that’s she has also been wondering how it happened to her.

“I also wonder why kung kailan nagiging internationally known and then when they come iba na 'yung [pagtanggap ng mga tao]. Hindi ko rin alam. Is it because of here are expecting them to do certain things. Hindi ko alam. But for me hindi ko rin alam kung meron bang certain secret for that sustaining power,” she said.

The “Starting Over Again” singer even likened Charice’s somewhat love-hate relationship with the Pinoy audience to that of fighting lovers. “Parang ano lang 'yan eh, kunwari sa mag-jowa kung 'yung lalaki nagkaroon ng kasalanan at 'yung babae ayaw na siyang tanggapin eh gusto mo talagang bumalik doon sa girlfriend mo eh. Anong gagawin mo? You just have to exert an extra effort for you to win her back. It's just that,’ she said. “If you really love that person you just got to have to do everything for you to get her back. Parang ganon lang 'yun. 'Yun lang 'yung nakikita kong analogy.”

Even though she remains well-loved by her fans in the country, Lani is not disillusioned that she would remain as loved as she is today in the future. If anything, Lani is aware that there would come a time that newcomers would take her place.
“Just like I told you. Darating ang panahon na meron ng papalit at papalit who is much prettier, who is much better, who has more of the talent. That's the reality of life,” Asia’s Nightingale said.

But if she were to choose who among the new breed of singers she sees as the one taking her place, Lani said, “Siguro sa mga naguumpisa parang katimbre ng boses ko si Klarisse [de Guzman] at Morrisette [Amon]. Kung paguusapan 'yung style of singing tsaka timbre ng boses parang silang dalawa. Actually makapal na medyo buo si Klarisse. Malinis.”
