081514-christopher_main.jpgCristopher de Leon remained optimistic despite the difficulty his family is facing after his son, Miguel de Leon, was diagnosed with cancer. During the Ikaw Lamang presscon, the actor shared that Miguel is currently confined in a hospital in California and is undergoing chemotherapy. 'He's okay but he's still in the ICU, but he's in the best hospital in the United States, one of the best, its called California Pacific Medical Hospital,' he shared.

The actor admitted that flying back to the Philippines and leaving his son in the US was tough. 'It's very difficult but I have a commitment to do here and Sandy (Andolong, his wife) is still there and my son from New Zealand flew to San Francisco and my sister Pinky lives there so he's completely covered,' he stated.

Christopher shared that his son has accumulated Testicular Germ Cell Tumor but it is curable. 'It's the one si Lance Armstrrong had before and after that naging champion pa nga siya, the best cycling [athlete], he's a sports man for that matter. Ang daming nangyaring ganyan, it's curable and God is at the helm and in God's time everything will be okay,' he said.

Last August 5, Christopher's wife, Sandy, revealed on her Instagram account that their son Miguel has cancer. Sandy remained hopeful and faithful despite their family's current predicament. 'This recent adversity our family had to face made our faith in our good and merciful GOD extremely stronger, our love for each other immensely deeper. It was one of the greatest challenges God allowed us to face as parents and as a tight family unit. And we wholeheartedly accepted God's test, hard as it may be, and placed our full and complete trust in Him!' Sandy posted.

Miguel is already on his fourth chemotherapy as of Monday, August 11, 2014. Sandy posted on her Instagram account, 'Going to sleep early. Miguel's 4th chemo today. Still has breathing apparatus to help him breathe better. We have to be at the hospital at 10 am for his pet scan. Praying for a positive result tomorrow from pet scan.'

She also extended her gratitude to those who showed support for their family 'I would like to thank our families, our very close friends, co-workers who prayed for us, showed us so much love & support & more importantly helped us get through this trying time. Thank you too to all the people who truly cared & prayed for our son. May our loving God bless you all!'
