“Alam mo, nakatrabaho pa ni daddy sina FPJ (Fernando Poe Jr) and Joseph Estrada. Then nag-cooking classes din siya. Kaya kinilabutan ako because I am doing all these things na pinagdaanan din ni Dad.

“I’m pretty sure na wherever they are, proud sila sa akin. For the longest time, they’ve always asked me what I wanted to do with my life and I couldn’t give them a straight answer. Now that I’m a broadcast journalist like them, ito na siguro iyon,” say pa niya.

“Masyado kaming mayayabang noon. When Gimik became the number one teen show on TV, we all became overnight superstars. We were paid very well at lahat na yata ng bisyo ginawa namin…

“I mean, we were bad boys… at that young age, we felt like rock stars… we felt like millionaires. I became an alcoholic. Pumupunta ako sa taping na nakainom. I didn’t care kasi as long as I’m there on the set and working, I’m still getting paid.

“Pero hindi naman ako naadik sa drugs. I tried marijuana and I didn’t like it. Kaya mas naging bisyo ko ang alak. Umiinom ako lagi. And because of that, yung bisyo ko, biglang nawala ang career ko… na parang, one day, I had it all, pero the next day, it was gone,” pagre-recall ni Diego.

Pero marami raw naman siyang natutunan sa mga nangyari.

“Yeah, maraming bagay akong natutunan… I learned a lot from that chapter of my life. I learned to be humble, to give importance to my profession and not abuse it. It is true, when we were young we did stupid things because we had fame and money and it was part of growing up, pero dapat alam din nating dalhin.

“Kung hindi ko na-experience ang lahat iyon, wala akong maise-share sa mga anak ko… like kung ano ang bawal at kung ano ang mga dapat nilang pag-ingatan. I am thankful to God because I was given another chance to redeem myself,” pahayag pa ni Diego.
