EXCLUSIVE: Archie Alemania set to work with ‘Heneral Luna’ director in new film

<div><img src="" alt="021916-archie_main.jpg" width="400" height="290" align="left" border="0"/>After playing the role of Kapitan Rusca in the critically-acclaimed historical movie <i>Heneral Luna</i> last year, Archie Alemania returned to television in the afternoon series <i>Tubig at Langis</i> which also stars Zanjoe Marudo and Cristine Reyes. The 37-year-old actor said he did not have to adjust much from playing a historical figure to being Zanjoe’s most trusted friend in the <i>teleserye</i>.</div><div><br/></div><div><i>&#x27;Pinsan at </i>best friend <i>ako ni </i>Zanjoe<i> sa </i>show. <i>Wala namang</i> adjustment<i> kasi kapag kami ni</i> Zanjoe <i>ang magkasama, yun yung</i> light side <i>ng storya. Parang ganun din sa Heneral Luna, dun sa</i> movie <i>na yun mabigat ang storya</i> and then <i>ako yung </i>light side,<i> parang ganun. Ako rin yung</i> light side<i> sa Tubig at Langis,”</i> he told <a href="http://Push.com.ph">Push.com.ph</a>.</div><div><br/></div><div>Just like the characters he plays on screen, Archie admitted he likes to see the brighter side of things and keep things light if possible. &#x27;Yes, I’m a very positive person <i>kasi. Tinitingnan ko lagi yung</i> positive side <i>ng bawat</i> situation <i>kahit</i> negative<i> na siya</i>. <i>Wala namang mangyayari kapag sumimangot ako </i>so why waste my time?<i> Parang ganun.</i> So always be positive,” he admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>Archie said that this year, he is looking forward to working with Heneral Luna director Jerrold Tarrog once again on a different kind of project. &#x27;Of course I’m looking forward to it. We’re going to do a movie again this coming April<i> pero</i> not related (to <i>Heneral Luna</i>). It’s another film by direk Jerrold.<i> Hindi pa puwede sabihin eh pero sa April malalaman niyo</i>. Rock star si direk Jerrold. Quiet<i> lang siya pero</i> very precise <i>kung mag-direct siya. Naka-</i>storyboard <i>bawat eksena, bawat shot niya may</i> shot list so <i>hindi siya yung</i> director <i>na tira tsamba. Siya yung</i> director <i>na gusto ito yung makita niya sa </i>script, <i>yun yung linalagay niya</i>. So <i>may</i> shot list,” he shared.</div><div><br/></div><div>Even while filming <i>Heneral Luna</i>, Archie said he was so impressed with Tarrog’s directing style. &#x27;He gave me freedom<i> naman kung pano ko bitawan yung mga linya ko. Kasi ako nga yung</i> light side <i>sa</i> movie so he gave me that. <i>pero binabantayan niya ako kung</i> mag-o-overboard,” he said . Because he had one of the most memorable (and funniest) lines in the movie, Archie revealed the movie opened up other opportunities for him. “<i>Kahit yung sa paggawa buong</i> film <i>hindi ko in</i>-expect<i> na ganito yung mangyayari. </i>After <i>nung </i>movie I got offers left and right because of <i>Heneral Luna</i> and I’m proud of that,” he added.</div><div><br/></div><div>As one of the pivotal characters who survived in the film, Archie said the public will defintiely see Kapitan Rusca on the big screen again. &#x27;<i>Ang sabi naman sa akin ni direk</i> I’ll be back<i>. Sabi ko, ‘Paano yun direk?’ Sabi niya gagawin natin ng paraan. Pero </i>small role<i> na lang yun kasi hindi ka puwede magtagal eh</i>,” he admitted.</div><div><br/></div>
