Shy is finally taking on the banner role as 2016’s Tasya Fantasya after doing well in several minor roles on the big screen. Among them were Para sa Hopeless Romantic and Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin.

Not many are aware that Shy and Nadine both started in Viva’s all-girl group called Pop Girls.

According to the Swiss-Filipino actress, she and Nadine are actually close especially since the latter was the group’s lead vocalist.

However, due to Nadine’s tight schedule as part of the top-rating soap On The Wings of Love, Shy shared that “Hindi pa [kami nagkakausap] kasi nasa SanFo siya and hindi na kami nagkikita.

Is she bothered that a lot of people are now linking her name and even comparing her to Nadine?

Go with the flow. Parang pinaghihirapan ko kung ano man,” she explained.

Halfway through the press conference, Viva Entertainment’s head honcho revealed that Shy was actually the second girl whom they are grooming to be the next big star from the now-defunct Pop Girls.

Before any speculations could arise, Shy clarified that she is not consciously digressing from what Nadine is currently doing which is romance and light drama.

“Hindi, hindi. Actually before nung nag-start ako ng comedy parang na-a-awkward-an ako sa sarili ko eventually nakita na ‘Ay ang saya pala mag-comedy’ especially kapag nakikita mo na natatawa ‘yung mga tao,” she explained.

Since Nadine was able to experience stardom first, Shy admitted that she did ask her a few questions.

“So, parang anong feeling? Okay ba?

For what it’s worth, Shy claimed that she’s well-prepared for stardom as the new Tasya Fantasya.

The show starts airing this February 6 on TV5.
