After her success as a blockbuster director, Antoinette Jadaone is revealing her “secret” on how she brings about the “kilig” in her various TV and movie projects.

Direk Tonette, as people fondly call her, is helming the upcoming first big screen project of Jodi Sta. Maria, Ian Veneracion and Richard Yap titled The Achy Breaky Hearts.

According to the hugot director, she never really had to make an effort to show the chemistry between the three actors.

“Dito madali lang kasi may kilig talaga sa kanila. Kailangan ko na lang angguluhan, sabihin sa kanila kung papano ‘yung eksena,” she said during the movie’s press conference.

“Pero ‘yung kilig po, parang built in na ‘yung kilig. Hindi na kailangan i-direct ang kilig,” she added.

The “built in kilig” that Direk Tonette was talking about could have started in Pangako Sa’Yo for Ian and Jodi and in Be Careful With My Heart for Richard and Jodi.

But the “directorial magic” that brings about kilig vibes, according to Direk Tonette, is nothing but mere collaboration.

“Siguro ‘yung mga ibang eksena tinatanong ko sila kung pano ang nakakakilig para sa kanila sa eksena,” she said.

For Direk Tonette, all good love stories have already been told but it’s just up to the people behind the camera to tell it differently.

'Siyempre hindi naman pwedeng ako nalang kasi magiging pare-pareho ang kilig sa bawat project. So sila, hindi naman sila madamot sa pagshe-share ng kilig sa kanilang mga eksena.”

According to Direk Tonette she welcomes insights and suggestions on the characters’ nuances because she believes that the actors sometimes know their characters better.

“Feeling ko ‘yun ang reason kung bakit nagiging masaya ang bawat eksena kasi hindi lang ako ang nag-di-direct ng eksena, sila rin,” she said.

How does she feel about the huge expectation on her films?

“Ako habang ginagawa ko ang movie, hindi ko iniisip kung magki-click ba? Kikita ba siya? Kasi kapag inisip ko na siya sa start baka hindi napo ako makatulog, ma-pressure ako lalo. Siguro mape-pressure ako sa June 29 na,” she joked.
